Dr. Larry's Pedaling for A Purpose:
A Cross-Country Ride Supporting Nutmeg Spay/Neuter Clinic

Hi everyone,
I’m Dr. Larry, a retired veterinarian with the privilege of working part-time at Nutmeg Spay/Neuter Clinic for nearly four years. If you’re not familiar with Nutmeg, it’s an incredible 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to providing reduced-cost spay/neuter services for cats and dogs across Connecticut and beyond. Their mission is to end pet overpopulation, reduce euthanasia, and provide care to animals in underserved communities. Over the past 13 years, they have performed over 60,000 spay/neuter surgeries—an astounding achievement made possible by their dedicated staff.
Starting April 15, I’ll embark on a coast-to-coast bicycle journey from Portland, Oregon, to Portland, Maine, as a fundraiser for Nutmeg Spay/Neuter Clinic. Riding alongside two friends, we expect to cover the country in 44 riding days, plus a few extra days for rest, weather, and laundry. Throughout the journey, I’ll be sharing daily photos and updates on Instagram (@pedal_2_portland), capturing the beauty, challenges, and memorable moments of the ride.
As one of my fellow riders put it, this journey will be “both utterly exhausting and spectacularly interesting.” More importantly, it’s an opportunity to raise vital funds to support Nutmeg’s mission and ensure more pets receive the care they need.
If you’d like to support this effort, follow along, donate, and help spread the word. Let’s make a difference—one mile, one ride, and one pet at a time.
“May the sun be kind, the path be clear, and the ride be safe and filled with joy.
